Howard Hamilton

I am Howard Hamilton, and I am an Atlanta-based photographer who is currently focused on food, real estate, and travel landscape photography.

I've always been into capturing moments through photography, ever since I snapped pictures of my 6th-grade Safety Patrol trip to Washington, DC with a Kodak Ektra pocket camera.

I am a technical person: I have undergraduate and graduate degrees in aerospace engineering, I started a data analytics company, and I've worked in data science for over 10 years. But I'm also a creative person: I enjoy writing and photography and growing my skills at both disciplines. I'm naturally curious about the world, and I aim to combine my interests to express my wonder at this complicated, contradictory, fascinating, wonderful world.

I want to be your partner in expressing and communicating the best side of your products, locales, and lives -- the beauty and the truth of it. Contact me below and let's get started.

Great photography is a product of the moment, the subject, and the photographer's skill, and only a small amount on the equipment. That being said, I'll mention my current gear. I shoot digital images with a Fujifilm X-T3 mirrorless and film photos with a Minolta Alpha-9 SLR.

My Process

For commissioned projects, the process starts with a phone call or virtual meeting in order to understand your objectives, deliverables, and budget.

For all projects, I will draw up an itemized contract with a shot list that will clearly state the photos that will be taken during the photoshoot. For food photography projects, I will also organize a pre-production meeting to agree on the location, staging, equipment and scheduling.

On the day of the shoot, I will arrive, set up my equipment, and get to work on the planned shot list. I will bring a computer so that all shots can be viewed by me and the client as they happen and any defects can be resolved in that moment.

Post-production is an inevitable (some might say indispensable) part of modern photography. I correct for color and exposure, as well as make adjustments that were not possible to make during the shoot.

Proofs will be made available to you within 24 hours on my client portal. Final images will be made available in either web format (for commercial websites and social media) or large format (for advertising and print).
